- The Monroe County Department of Public Health was awarded a “Lead Hazard Control Grant” from The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of Healthy Homes & Lead Hazard Control. This grant will provide reimbursable lead hazard control grants to City of Rochester home owners of up to $5000 per unit. Grants are available to property owners of both rental and owner occupied units in the City of Rochester. A total of 370 housing units will be made lead safe during the November 1, 2006 – October 31, 2009 grant period. For further information please go to the Monroe County Department of Public Health Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Program.
- Call the City of Rochester at (585) 428-LEAD to inquire about guidelines and an application for the City’s grant programs. Landlords and Individual Homeowners (o Dueños Ocupantes) can receive up to $24,000 to make their homes or rental properties safer.
- The NeighborWorks Rehab Loan Program services City of Rochester residents. There are no maximum income guidelines and each case is reviewed individually. Interest rates are 6%-7% depending on loan term, loan terms are from 5-15 years, and the maximum loan amount is $24,999. The NeighborWorks Rehab Loan Program addresses rehab issues only – not remodeling (i.e. lead, windows, roof repair/replacement, siding or exterior paint, furnace repair/replacement, plumbing, etc). When grant monies are available and if the applicant qualifies, NeighborWorks may be able to provide 50% of the loan as a grant. Anyone interested in the Rehab Loan Program should attend the Loan Orientation at NeighborWorks® (570 South Ave) every Wednesday at 4:00PM. For more information please contact Amy Brough at (585) 325-4170 x326 or abrough@nwrochester.org.
